Here’s How Your Temecula Hot Air Balloon Adventure Unfolds
Meeting Point and Check-In
The experience begins at Bolero Winery, conveniently located just off Rancho California Road in the heart of wine country. Meeting times vary by season, generally between 5:30 am in summer and 6:30 am in winter. You’ll receive your exact check-in time when your reservation is confirmed. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your pilot, checked in, and transported to the launch site in one of our comfortable chase vehicles. Restrooms and ample parking are available at the winery.
Launch and Flight
At the launch site, you’ll watch your seven-story balloon come to life as it’s inflated with cool morning air. Guests are welcome to take part in the setup or simply relax and enjoy the process. Once airborne, your pilot ensures a smooth, safe, and memorable flight, communicating throughout with the trained ground crew who follow the balloon until landing.
Soaring Over Temecula’s Wine Country
Your shared Temecula hot air balloon adventure begins with the sunrise, as you drift peacefully above the rolling vineyards of Southern California’s Temecula Valley. Every flight is unique – guided by the wind, no two paths are ever the same. From your vantage point, you can spot lakes, citrus groves, wineries, estate homes, and even wildlife. Along the way, your FAA-certified pilot acts as both navigator and guide, pointing out landmarks such as Lake Skinner, Old Town Temecula, and the surrounding mountains.
Landing and Celebration
After gently touching down, our crew will pack up the balloon and return you to Bolero Winery. There, you’ll toast your new status as an aeronaut with a celebratory glass of our private-label La Scappatella champagne, orange juice, or a refreshing mimosa in the winery’s VIP area. If you’re marking a special occasion, let us know – we’re happy to help celebrate. We’ve proudly operated in Temecula since 1991, with safety at the heart of everything we do. To meet insurance guidelines, all guests are required to sign a Release of Liability Waiver.
The average flight altitude for a hot air balloon is from tree top level to 3000 feet. The flight plan depends upon wind velocity, direction and the passenger’s desires.
There is no minimum or maximum age restriction on riding in a hot air balloon. Our only consideration is that passengers need to be 4 feet tall, in good health, be able to stand during the entire flight and climb in and out of the basket.
The actual flight time for a Temecula hot air balloon ride is approximately one hour. The entire hot air balloon experience, including pre-flight preparation, flight and post-flight celebration, may take two and a half to three hours.
Grape Escape Balloon Adventures welcomes groups of all sizes. Our shared Temecula Wine Country flights accommodate 8–16 passengers. For a more intimate experience, we offer a Private Hot Air Balloon Ride for Two. Larger groups can enjoy a Private Group Hot Air Balloon Ride for up to 16 guests.
The attire for hot air ballooning is casual. We take off and land in open fields. To maximize your enjoyment, dress appropriately for the season, using casual active wear and closed sport shoes. Bring a sweater, sweatshirt or jacket. Shorts, open toed and high heeled shoes are not allowed. Due to heat generated by the hot air balloon’s propane burners, a hat is preferable for tall passengers.
A video or camera offers the perfect opportunity to capture the spectacular scenery and memories of your hot air balloon tour. The crew will be available before you take off to take your picture in the basket.
Winds are typically calm and stable during the first hours after sunrise, which is why hot air ballooning in the Temecula Valley operates only at sunrise. As the sun heats the earth’s surface, thermal activity builds and creates stronger, unpredictable winds later in the day. For safe flying, ideal wind speeds are between 3–6 miles per hour. Our meeting times are scheduled to match sunrise for the safest conditions, ranging from 5:30 am in summer to 6:30 am in winter.

Health & Safety
We offer hot air balloon tours seven days a week, weather permitting at sunrise over the picturesque Temecula Valley wine country in Southern California. Flights are weather-dependent, and your safety is our first priority. Guests should be in good health, at least 4 feet tall, able to climb in and out of the basket unassisted, stand for an hour, and free of recent surgeries, back or leg issues, a cast, oxygen use, or pregnancy; please review our complete health and safety requirements(opens in a new tab) for more information.
Duration & Schedule
Scenic flights are 60–75 minutes long. However, plan to spend up to three hours with us for your entire hot air balloon excursion. Meeting times vary from 5:30 – 6:30 am depending on the season. Due to the early morning hours overnight lodging is recommended.
Our Fleet
There are fifteen colorful hot air balloons in our fleet. Our hot air balloons and baskets have the latest innovations in design, comfort and safety and can accommodate two to sixteen passengers each. All our equipment is FAA certified, we are fully insured and licensed by the Public Utilities Commission TCP #11964-C.

We accept reservations for any number of passengers from a single guest to groups of any size. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. A major credit card will reserve a date of your choice. Cancellation & Refunds
We understand plans can change, so if you cancel at least 48 hours before check-in you will receive a refund minus an 8% processing fee, but cancellations, changes, or no-shows within 48 hours are non-refundable.
